Key assignment with tap and hold, scroll wheel, Bluetooth remotes such as the Desview remote.
Tap and hold
Under Settings → Keys, every action has two fields: Tap and Hold. Click a field, press a key, a combination or an extra mouse button, done. Duplicates and reserved combinations are caught, and Escape stays reserved.
- Tap fires on key down. If the same key also has a hold assignment, tap fires on release instead.
- Hold fires after half a second.
- Held key repeats speed, lines and 15-second jumps keeps them running for as long as you hold.
Out of the box: Space start/pause, S stop, Home beginning, ←/→ chapter, ↑/↓ line. In the editor, keys stay text input.

Bluetooth remotes
Off-the-shelf teleprompter remotes (the Desview remote, for example) register as a Bluetooth keyboard and send normal keys: Return, arrows, Tab. Pair it in the macOS Bluetooth settings, then fill in the fields in TalkPatch. A layout that works well on six keys:

Start/pause stays on the space bar or on a Stream Deck key.
Mouse wheel and mouse buttons
Settings → Mouse Wheel: function (scroll text, speed, chapter), smoothing, sensitivity and direction. Option + scroll switches between scrolling and speed. Side mouse buttons change the chapter by default and are assigned like keys.
